Welcome to Ruth McCabe Contemporary Art

Thank you for visiting and browsing this site. Ruth lives in Suffolk, a few miles inland from the North Sea, where sea and rivers meet, and where the land has its own, natural range of sea defences in the form of salt marsh and mudflats. The forms, colours and changing moods of these habitats in different weathers and seasons command her attention and find expression in her work. Her love of the natural world is undergirded by an understanding of the need to respect the balances and checks built into the environment, knowledge gained whilst an undergraduate studying Botany and Zoology.
Granddaughter of a Yorkshire farmer and horse breeder, Ruth also loves the animals to be found in this landscape: the fluid Brown Hare, rounded sheep, cheeky pigs and the beautiful craggy weight of cows, and her work often returns to these subjects for the sheer pleasure of painting their line, form and movement.
Ruth works in oils, watercolour and acrylic. All work on the site is original unless otherwise stated. Please click on GALLERIES above.
