Welcome to Ruth McCabe Contemporary Art

Thank you for visiting and browsing this site. Ruth lives in East Anglia, in Suffolk, a few miles inland from the North Sea, whose coast is of varied form and habitat. These precious landscapes where North sea and rivers meet, and where the land presents a range of sea defences, provide the forms, colours and relationships that command her attention. Her work expresses a love of these places, their moods and changing patterns. Most recently she has returned to her undergraduate study of Botany and Zoology, exploring the vital role of salt marsh and water meadows in the relationship of land and sea.
Granddaughter of a Yorkshire farmer and horse breeder, Ruth also loves the animals to be found in this landscape: the fluid Brown Hare, rounded sheep, cheeky pigs and the beautiful craggy weight of cows, often returned to for the sheer pleasure of painting their line, form and movement.
Ruth works in oils, watercolour and acrylic. All work on the site is original unless otherwise stated. Please click on GALLERIES above.
